Community A.M.E. Church

Mount Moriah Community African Methodist Episcopal Church was officially recognized  on August 23, 2007. Mount Moriah’s founding pastor, Reverend Sheriolyn Curry Lasley, was appointed its first pastor. In October 2012, Rev. Sheriolyn was transferred to pastor Greater Bethel AME Church in Phoenix, AZ.

Reverend Arnold L. Jackson was named as the new pastor of Mt. Moriah Church. He and our first lady, Marilyn Jackson, arrived at Mt. Moriah on Sunday, November 4, 2012 and  were warmly welcomed by the congregation.

Unforeseen circumstances caused Mt. Moriah to seek a temporary place of worship, and the Maricopa Veterans Center opened its doors to us. The worship time changed from 10:30 AM to 7:30 AM, due to sharing the space with other churches.

God has blessed our faithfulness by providing an opportunity to lease, with an option to buy, 1.25 acres of land that includes a ten year old manufactured home. There is a lot of work to do with the city of Maricopa and on the site prior to occupancy, but the same God that provided our temporary worship location and our 1.25 acres is the same God that will provide a way for us to occupy the site.

Our Building Fund is growing. Members are serving throughout in various Mt. Moriah ministries. We provide leadership to embrace diversity, to set standards of high quality in our activities and to address the issues of our time. We are thankful. We are grateful. We are blessed.
